Question 1

What throw ratio do I need for a golf simulator projector?

Accepted Answer

For typical golf simulator rooms (10-15 feet deep), an ultra-short throw (UST) projector with a throw ratio under 0.5 is ideal as it can be mounted close to the screen. Standard throw projectors (1.0-2.0 ratio) work for larger rooms where the projector can be mounted 12-15 feet from the screen without shadow interference.

Question 2

How many lumens should a golf simulator projector have?

Accepted Answer

For dedicated dark rooms, 2,500-3,500 lumens is sufficient. For rooms with ambient light or larger screens (120"+), aim for 4,000-5,000+ lumens. Brighter projectors ensure vivid colors and visibility regardless of room lighting conditions.

Question 3

What input lag is acceptable for a golf simulator projector?

Accepted Answer

For golf simulators, input lag under 30ms is ideal for responsive gameplay. Most modern projectors offer 16-33ms input lag in game mode. While golf doesn't require the ultra-low latency needed for fast-paced video games, lower input lag creates a more immersive experience.

Question 4

What resolution should I choose for a golf simulator?

Accepted Answer

1080p (Full HD) is the minimum recommended resolution for golf simulators. 4K projectors offer sharper detail, especially beneficial for larger screens over 120 inches, but require more powerful computers to run simulation software at native 4K resolution.
